Track Season Coming Up

Over the weekend as everyone would know were the finals for the basketball games. The games of the final four teams face off to see who is going to be the state champs. The Holbrook boys made it back once again.  The game would bring many people together. Students that have graduated met up at the game. Old friends I have not seen were there as well. I even saw one of my friends that have moved at the game. There were also students that were still going to school cheering.

When the game started the cheering was so loud from the Holbrook crowd. Even some of the other schools were cheering for Holbrook. It was a crazy game to watch. The game went into two over times. It was crazy the fans were cheering as loud as they possible could. They outcome was not good for the team, but I believe they did well. My mom was like they lost, but you know we still love the team for playing there hardest.

It was good weekend down in the valley. This weekend on Saturday is going to be the first track meet. I am nervous to see who is going to be going this weekend for the throwers. I want to go so bad I do not want to be out thrown. At practice I watch the other students throw and I think they can out throw me. I do not really care if I lose in shot put. I would be a little mad if I lose in discuss. Discuss is so fun to see and do. It looks so cool how this circle disc flies so smooth in the air and how far it can go. There is different ways to throw the disc. I can only throw it one way, but I am pretty good at it. My friend Ty can throw the disc two ways. He can throw it the same way I can and the other way we call it the spin technique. I know how to do the spin technique it’s just I have not got it down to have decent throws with it yet. So I’m going to have to have more practice with it. Later on this week was going to see who is going to be going to the track meet Saturday at Queen Creek.

Family

This week was a great week I got to travel around with my mom.  We went to the basketball games at Flagstaff. We watched the boys play and to get your tickets was pretty easy there were no lines because it was the last game of the day. When we went to watch the girls play the next day there was a ton of people in line to get tickets. We finally got our tickets to watch the games. After the game we went to go to my auntie’s house.

We were going to be feed really good because to me she can cook. Man her breakfast burritos are just the bomb. She makes fresh bread with spam, potatoes, and something else. I eat it too fast to remember. I could not wait to eat what she cooks. We arrived late that night we had stuff to do before we headed over.  

We while arrived then went to sleep me and my mom was pretty tried. So when we woken up my auntie had started cooking. Man I could not have waited for breakfast to be served. We had her biscuits and gravy and I love biscuits and gravy. After breakfast we got to spend time with them which was fun. We even got to spend time with my cousin’s baby. She was so cute to play with. We all got a kick out of her. The time had just gone by fast it was getting pretty late. So my auntie started cooking dinner. This time she made her breakfast burritos I had about two or three of them. They were so good to have, wished I had some to go. It is go to spend time with family. 

Wrestling Seasons

Well there is nothing much to say just that I am done with my wrestling career for the school. I have worked hard though the four year I have been at the school. When I first started wrestling ever I was scared because I have never wrestled before. I wanted to do as many sports as I could when I was at school. When the years went on I have gotten better I started winning matches and placing at tournaments. When I finished wrestling at the Jr. High I decided that I would wrestle for the High school. I was going to stick out with the sport no matter what. My first year I was on JV and I did not do that great, but I did have a decent record. I had an even amount of wins and losses.

My second year I was still on JV and I had more matches then I had the year before.  I tried wrestling for a spot on the Varsity team, but I lost every time I tried. I had tough people who were in my way one person for example was AJ. I did not give up though I just worked harder at practice.

My third year I was finally on Varsity and I was not going to give it up. I worked hard for my spot I even wrestled in the off season. I wrestled with some of the other teammates at Camp Verde to get some more experience. I did not go to as many as I should have, but at least I went. I placed at about two tournaments and I had many more matches I had a record of 22-21 so I had a winning record. When sectionals came I was pretty nervous, but then again I worked hard. I was ranked fifth and I won all my matches I even beat the number one guy in the section.  I qualified to go to state, but I got knocked out the first day.

My fourth and last year wrestling for the school was awesome. I went to Camp Verde more than I did last summer and got a bunch of matches. When wrestling season started I did great I placed at many more tournaments. I had a better record than last year my final recorded was 31-10. I only was pinned three times and every other time I only lost by points. I gave everyone a good fight for their wins. I even took sectionals again.  I did go to state to, but I did not make it to the second day like I was hoping to. I had some tough matches at state and one wrestler said to me was, “Man you were way tougher then the guy I just wrestled you made me work for the win.” I felt proud of what he told me. So hard work those pay off. 

State Wrestling Week

Well last week started off just as regular. Went to school had a bad then had practice which was hard, but as the week went on we went a little easier. We did because sectionals were on Friday and Saturday. Bokker wanted us to be at our best performance when it was time. Everyone on the team has worked hard to make it this far. We were all ready for what was ahead of us there was no turning back now. During the week we had some people get hurt. Some were able to come back when others were not that lucky. We were able to get some people to replace there spot, but we wish they could have wrestled with us.  When Thursday came we knew who was going to be wrestling at sectionals. Some of the wrestlers were overweight so they had to cut some weight to make weigh-ins. The next morning a couple of the wrestlers haven’t eaten because they wanted to make weight. When weigh-ins came we went to the scales and we all made weight. Soon after, the wrestlers who have not eaten finally got to eat. Well sectionals started up and we started wrestling. I had also found out that I was ranked second in sectionals. My first match was up against Alchesay. I won against him last time we faced off, but you never know he could have improved. I heard my named get called to head over to the mat and wrestle. I was ready for him I have gotten better to since he saw me. The outcome was I pinned him which was good because last time I only won by points. My next match was going to be up against St. Johns. We went up against each other twice. The first time we wrestled he won and the second time I won.  I had found out later on in the day that I won’t be wrestling him tell the next day. So I relaxed Friday night to get ready for my next match.  The next morning I got ready for my big day. I was going to wrestle my hardest that day. I wanted to take sectionals just like I did last year. When my match came up I was a little nervous, but I was ready for it. The match was tough I had to fight really hard against him. When it was over I had won the match I was going to be wrestling for first or second place. I was so happy that I had made it this far. I found out that I was going to be wrestling up against Beaver Dam. I had not wrestled him since last year. He had gotten stronger so I had to watch out for throws. I was so pumped for my match when it was our turn I was going to give it everything I got. When it was over I had come out winning I had now just won sectionals twice in a row. I was so happy. My mom, family, and friends were so proud of me. Now this week the team has to get ready for state. I hope to at least place this year.
